This month's featured author is one of my favourites (both as an author & as a human!)—the fantastic Lola Rock.
1. Tell us about yourself.
I’m just writing books until I make enough money to buy a mansion and live with my cats, like Enya. Except, I don’t have cats, because I travel too much (I was living in Thailand before the pandemic). Desserts are my true passion.
2. How did you get into writing romance? Was it something you always wanted to do?
No!!! It was a twisty road, and I’m still not sure how I got here. I wrote my MFA thesis on YA fantasy, and I always wanted to write classic young adult stories like the ones I grew up reading (Diana Wynne Jones, Tamora Pierce, Patricia C Wrede).
I never read romance until I was assigned to read it for grad school, and I’d been writing 10+ years by the time I stumbled into whychoose. I’d pretty much quit trying to succeed by then, but I wanted to keep writing as a hobby and the genre was so fun to play with. I whipped out the first Pack Darling book for kicks while I was looking for editing jobs.
Being an omegaverse author was not on my life Bingo card!
3. Tell us about your latest release!
Redfang Royal is the third book in my Pack Darling world; it catches us up with Lilah’s missing bestie, Marisol. The story has WAY TOO MUCH going on (childhood friends-to-lovers, mistaken identities, mafia families, pheromone superpowers, rhetorical devices out the wazoo), but you’ll love it if you love alliteration and want to be taken on a ride.

A million and one webnovels. I read so many Korean and Chinese serials; they’re like candy!
